How to Compress Photo & Signature for Online Exam Forms

Applying for SSC, UPSC, IBPS or a state exam? The photo and signature upload is where most applicants get stuck. Here's exactly how to prepare them so the portal accepts them the first time.

What the exam portals usually ask for

SSC and IBPS typically want the smallest sizes (photo 20–50 KB, signature 10–20 KB). UPSC allows a wider range. Always check your notification.

  1. Open the image compressor.
  2. For the photo, limit the largest side to about 200 px, then compress toward 20–50 KB.
  3. For the signature, limit the largest side to about 140 px, then compress toward 10–20 KB.
